n this paper, comparative pharmacology among alcohol extract ofAcantho panax senticosus ( AASE ) , A.giraldii ( AAGI ) , A. gracilistylus( AAGR ) and Peniploca sepiuml ( APSE ) , and the water extract ofAcantho panax giraldii ( WAGl ) was studied. The results showed asfollows: ( 1 ) All the extracts had the anti-in flammatory effect tothe ear swelling of mice induced by croton oil, among which thatof WAGI was the strongest . ( 2 ) WAGI and AASE could significantlyprolong the swimming time of mice under the condition of low temperatureby P.O.treatment ( 200 mg/kgx6d ) . ( 3 ) WAGI ,AAGR and AASE inhibitedthe decrease of white blood cells in mice caused by cyclophosphamide. (4)AASE prolonged tha sleeping time of mice induced by pentobarbital saline,while AAGR and WAGI had no effect, and APSE and AAGI couldreduce the s leeping time significantly.
