This paper discusses current study status and existing problems of animal models of hepatic fibrosis. Rat is taken as a classical example to elaborate several available methods, pathogenesis, pathway, effect of each method with details and compare the advantages and disadvantages among them and different usage. In the end we advance the development trend in the future.
