With the deepening of miniature pigs research, as the advantages of human disease model has become increasingly evident, the application in the biomedical research is also on the rise. Comparative anatomy and physiology studies have shown that many biological characteristics of miniature pigs are very similar to humans, especially in the anatomy and function of the kidneys is almost a replica of the human, make it in duplicate kidney disease model, research the pathogenesis of the disease and evaluate treatment strategies has an irreplaceable role. In this paper, we will review miniature pigs as the disease animal model application in kidney disease research.
