Abstract:Objective To understand the current status of animal experimental research on comorbidities of depression, and to provide methods for preparing and evaluating relevant animal models of comorbidities of depression. Method Search the databases of CNKI and PubMed, collect research literature on comorbidities of depression in animals, summarize and analyze data on animal species, comorbidity types, modeling methods, model evaluation indicators, etc. Result This study included 100 Chinese literature and 143 English literature. Since 2011, the total number of papers published at home and abroad has shown an upward trend. The top three comorbidity models of the number of papers published are depression pain (97, 39.91%), depression epilepsy (37, 15.23%) and depression diabetes (20, 8.23%). The depression neuropathic pain model is the most common comorbidity type of depression and pain, and its most commonly used preparation method is the sciatic nerve branch selective injury model, often using C57BL/6J mice. The depression acute epilepsy model is the most common comorbidity type of depression epilepsy, and its most commonly used preparation method is the lithium chloride pilocarpine model, often using SD rats. The most commonly used preparation method of depression diabetes model is intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin, and C57BL/6J mice are mostly used. Finally, the evaluation methods for the above comorbidity models were systematically summarized. Conclusion Scholars are paying increasing attention to animal experimental research on comorbidities of depression. Only a few animal models for the preparation and evaluation of comorbidities of depression are gradually maturing, and the vast majority of experimental studies on comorbidities of depression are still in their infancy, requiring more time and effort for exploration.
