Planarians have strong regenerative abilities and play an important role in evolution. Planarians are ideal model animals for experimental research, and have reportedly been used in regenerative medicine, toxicology, immunology, and genetics, among other fields. This article summarizes the progress of research on planarians as model animals, and provides a reference for future research on these animals.
