Abstract:Alzheimer"s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease that severely impairs cognitive function. Current clinical treatments can only partially improve symptoms and cannot effectively delay the disease progression. The pathogenesis of AD is complex, involving multiple pathological processes such as Aβ deposition, hyperphosphorylation of Tau protein, and neuroinflammation, among which neuroinflammation is a key link in disease progression. Nuclear Factor-kappa B (NF-κB), as a core regulatory factor of inflammatory responses, plays a key hub role in the above pathological processes and has become an important target for intervening in AD progression. Studies have shown that traditional Chinese medicine, with its advantages of multi-target and multi-pathway overall regulation, shows unique potential in regulating the NF-κB signaling pathway to intervene in AD. This paper systematically expounds the composition and activation mechanism of the NF-κB signaling pathway, deeply discusses the role of this pathway in AD-related neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, cell apoptosis and mitochondrial dysfunction, and reviewed the research progress of traditional Chinese medicine in preventing and treating AD via regulating the NF-κB signaling pathway at both the monomer and compound prescription levels., in order to provide theoretical basis and research ideas for the mechanism research and clinical new drug development of AD.
