    Abstract:

The antimutagenic effect of garlic extract on mutagenicity of normal human peripheral blood cells induced by MMC were quantitatively detected by using in situ nick translation method and liquid scintillation counting. The results showed that garlic extract had strong antimutagenicity effect and the nick translation method provided a rapid and sensitive quantitative assay for detecting DNA damage.
