According to the National Standards for Laboratory Animal Environment and Facility, some reconstructed laboratory animal facilities were tested during the past two years in Beijing. The results showed that the conditions of the reconstructed facilities were improved in varying degrees and reached the National Standards for Laboratory Animals after reconstruction respectively. However, the results of overall analysis of the laboratory animal facilities reconstruction showed that there are very significant differences (P<0.01) among the different facilities or the different parts in the same facility. This suggest that standards of design and construction for laboratory animal facility should be built as soon as possible in China.
