Objective To establish a breeding stock of SPF rabbits for meeting the needs in scientific research, production and drug tests. Methods The rabbits were cleansed by cesarean section, and the baby rabbits were reared in isolators by artificial feeding. The weaned rabbits were given normal intestinal bacteria and then transferred into the barrier system. Results At present, there are about 100 SPF rabbits in the barrier system. With their pathogens examined, they are up to the standard of SPF rabbits in China. Conclusion The SPF rabbits breeding stock is established successfully by cesarean section.
