In this paper, waterborne human diseases and effects of harmful factors in water environment to humans were briefly described, and advances in studies on applicable aquatic laboratory animals in human disease and environmental controlling researches were summarized. Prospects of application of aquatic organisms in studies on waterborne human public health problems were discussed.
