Pet animals can habor and transmit many zoonotic pathogens.Many factors drive infections,such as frequent household pets increasing in numbers and species,and the booming of international trade of exotic pets.This review summarized the zoonotic pathogens potentially transmitted by pet dogs,cats,rodents,birds,fish and reptiles to humans,and described the route of infection and the zoonoses caused by these pathogens.The preventive strategies for petassociated infections were summarized.
