Small model organisms such as yeast，nematodes，fruit fly and zebrafish have been widely used in biological research. They are used in research of viral mechanism and led to new understandings of virus-host interaction and antiviral immune mechanisms. The present review summarizes the versatility of these animal models and their main contributions in the elucidation of virus mechanisms.
