Experimental animals and animal experimentation played a crucial role in the development of biological and modern medical research． The rapid development of laboratory animal science in China was associated with a growing demand for veterinary services to meet the demanding requirement for better medical care to laboratory animals． In this paper，we discuss the role of veterinary in animal experimentation． This article discusses the required qualifications for laboratory animal veterinarians，their fundamental missions and role in the health management of laboratory animals，and emphasizes the importance of the responsibilities veterinarians are entrusted with for the care of laboratory animals．Laboratory animal veterinarians play a key role in the health management of laboratory animals and the conduct of animal experimentation． This highlights the importance of veterinary care in animal research．
