In this paper, the theoretical basis, animal selection, modeling stress source, modeling time, and evaluation of indexes of sub-health animal models were summarized. Research on the theoretical basis and evaluation indexes of sub-health animal models is important and comprehensive analysis of multiple indexes should be conducted to identify ideal, mature, and recognized sub-health animal models.
