    Abstract:

Objective To establish a new method of endotracheal intubation in small animals. Methods Fourty C57BL/6 mice were included in this experiment.A wire of percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty(PTCA) was retrogradely inserted into the trachea and pushed into the oral cavity.Guided by the PTCA wire,a tracheal cannula was advanced into the trachea. Results Endotracheal intubation succeeded in all mice without severe complications. Conclusion APTCA wire-guided endotracheal intubation technique in mice has been established. This method is simple, safe, effective and with only mild damages in comparison with other existing tracheal intubation procedures.
