Objective To evaluate the usefulness of electron microscopy in detection of virus in animal samples. Methods Negative staining and uhrathin sections were used for electron microscopic examination. Results Plentiful mouse poxvirus particles were observed under the electron microscope by both staining methods. Conclusion Electron microscopy is a reliable and useful technique and can be successfully used in animal virus detection.
