Abstract:Objective To obtain the basic data of the Sprague-Dawley rats in embryo-fetal development toxicity study. Methods Timed-pregnant rats ( n = 395) were sacrificed at the end of the gestation period ( GD 20) . Terminal examinations include necropsy,count of corporea lutea and live and dead implantations,gross evaluation of placenta,fetal body weight,and external,visceral,and skeletal examination of fetuses. 50% of fetuses were examined for visceral alterations and 50% of fetuses for skeletal abnormalities. Results and Conclusion The basic data of the Sprague-Dawley rats,such as body weight,fetal development,and fetal malformation / variation,were obtained.
