Objective To obtain the basic data of the Sprague-Dawley rats in embryo-fetal development toxicity study． Methods Timed-pregnant rats ( n = 395) were sacrificed at the end of the gestation period ( GD 20) ． Terminal examinations include necropsy，count of corporea lutea and live and dead implantations，gross evaluation of placenta，fetal body weight，and external，visceral，and skeletal examination of fetuses． 50% of fetuses were examined for visceral alterations and 50% of fetuses for skeletal abnormalities． Results and Conclusion The basic data of the Sprague-Dawley rats，such as body weight，fetal development，and fetal malformation / variation，were obtained．
