    Abstract:

Atherosclerosis (AS) is a chronic disease characterized by lipid deposits in blood vessels. An increasing number of studies suggest that immune-mediated inflammatory responses play an important role in the pathogenesis of AS. Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) participates in various stages of AS as a member of the natural immune pattern recognition receptor family, and thus has become an important target for the treatment of AS. This article reviews the progress in research regarding TLR4 and AS.
