Tree shrew, a kind of lower-grade primates animals, whose value at biology research has cause attention of researchers, have been more and more demanded as laboratory animals. However, as the south subtropical animals, how to adapt to life in the northern area, is the premise that tree shrew can be used as laboratory animals in northern area. Our laboratory has explored feeding cage, which is suitable for Tree shrew living; detemined feeding environment, such as temperature, humidity, illumination time, noise, ventilation and so on; formulated the standardized health management standard and established breeding management method of long-term artificial cultivation of Tree shrew; which have lay the foundation for research on traditional Chinese medicine syndrome combined with disease animal models using Tree shrew in the future.
